Custom Acrylic Pins — Full Colour, Cut to Shape, Made in Toronto
If your design has a gradient, a photo, or more than five or six colours in it, an enamel pin is going to fight you. Every colour is a separate fill, fine detail muddies, and the quote climbs with each one. Acrylic pins don't care. We print the artwork the way it was drawn and cut the pin to its outline. That's the whole reason people order these from us.
How we make them
Each pin starts as a sheet of clear acrylic. We print your artwork in three passes: colour, then a layer of white, then colour again. The white sits behind the image and is what gives the print its depth — without it, colours go thin and washed out against the clear plastic. Three passes also means the ink bonds hard to the acrylic instead of sitting on top of it.
Then the sheet goes to the cutter. We follow the outline of your artwork and leave a clear border of about 0.0625" all the way around, so the edge is clean and nothing gets shaved off your design. The pin post is fixed to the back with a high-strength UV-cured glue, the butterfly clutch goes on, and the pin is done. Nothing to assemble at your end.
Sizes
From 1" × 1" up to 5" × 5". Most orders land around 1.5" × 1.5", which is about the size of a large coin and reads well on a jacket, lanyard or bag strap. You can order up to 4 different designs in one order; pricing follows the largest size in the batch.
What acrylic pins are good at, and what they aren't
Good at: full-colour artwork. Illustrations with shading, photographs, logos with gradients, anything from 2 colours to full colour — all of it prints exactly as your file, because there's no colour-by-colour process in the way. They're also quick and inexpensive, which is why they work for a one-off event as well as a merch table.
Worth knowing: an acrylic pin is a printed plastic piece with a glued post, not a cast metal one with a soldered post. Worn on clothing or a bag it holds up fine. Dropped on concrete or sat on, it can crack where a metal pin would just scratch. If you need something that survives a toolbox, order enamel. If you need something that looks exactly like your artwork, order these.
The artwork mistake we see most
Tall, thin designs. A pin has to hide the post, and the post needs a solid area of at least 0.35" behind it. A skinny shape — a single letter, a narrow arrow, a figure with thin legs — leaves the post poking out past the artwork, and it looks wrong. Two fixes: widen the shape slightly, or add a small background element (a circle, a banner) for the post to sit behind. We flag this in the proof before anything is cut, so you won't find out after the fact.
Who orders them
Artists and illustrators, mostly — the ones whose work has more colour than enamel can carry. Event planners who need a few dozen pins for a launch or a conference. Small groups: we've made memorial pins for cancer walks and remembrance events, where the design is usually a photo and a date. Small businesses use them to show off a new product or a new logo on staff and at trade shows. What they have in common is a design that needs to look like the design, a short timeline, and a budget that enamel doesn't fit.
Ordering
Upload a high-resolution PNG. No template needed. Within 1 business day you get a digital proof showing the cut line, the clear border and where the post will sit. Approve it and the pins go into production, 3–5 business days. Free shipping on orders over $100 to Canada and the US (US tariffs, if any, are charged on delivery).
Questions we get
Is there a minimum order? Yes, 10 pins.
Do the pins come with a protective liner? Your choice. At checkout you can have us leave the liner on for handling and shipping, or peel it off so the pins arrive ready to wear.
Can you print on both sides? No — the back carries the post and the clutch. Artwork is printed on the front only.
What file types do you take? PNG is easiest. PDF, AI, EPS, SVG and PSD are fine too. If your file needs work, we'll tell you during proofing rather than print it wrong.
Do you ship to the United States? Yes. Free on orders over $100.
